Northumberland's only record of Mistletoe has gone. The 2 Malus trees that hosted the plants have been felled and in its place is block paving to make way for more retail space at Heighley gate garden centre. It appears that the current owners Wyvedale are more interested in squeezing yet more profit out of this space than using it as a good example of conserving rare species.

What a shame! Its the same story wherever we look now Nigel, so one gives a toss about anything wild...
All our wild things are very vulnerable. I'd be overjoyed to have something like this on land I owned especially the space it took up.
Is that right Nigel?.. what a sickener that is. Stewarts right no one really cares at all, can I ref your blog on my FB page Nigel?
You could do John but as I'm out of touch with these things I'm not sure what it means! The only thing about heighley gate is Amber works there on a weekend job!
It beggar's belief :/
